Life in Montréal

Montréal is one of Canada's oldest cities. Founded in 1642 by French colonists, Montréal has evolved into a major industrial and cultural centre. Its unique mix of French and English cultures along with contributions from many other linguistic and ethnic groups has made Montréal a truly international city. Located on the St-Lawrence River, and built around Mont Royal, Montréal has a population of approximately 2.5 million. Its restaurants are legion, festivals are almost continuous during the summer months, and there is easy access to surrounding lakes and mountains. The climate is temperate, with daytime summer temperatures averaging 25°C and daytime winter temperatures averaging -5°C. Living accommodations are relatively inexpensive and the streets are refreshingly safe.

Montréal is an exciting multicultural city that bustles with activity all-year round presenting a mix of old world charm, French joie de vivre and a modern style all its own.
